Oh my there are plenty of fantastic camps! I find more every year within a couple hours of home...it's hard to justify leaving the region.
Also want to go to the John Day R. before the year is over, a famous desert river (thread in Camping somewhere).
If you can really make it up here, we'll plan somethin special. Right now the fire danger is EXTREME! as you know so no campfires until some rain shows up. I myself would love to see what your region has to offer, all I know is the NW. Lots of gas $$...
It's also nice in Sept when the crowds die down and so do all the bugs, they are annoying.
