Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
I could dig that spot on the creek.... Probably more stars and less 35* drizzle out there.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
Yeah that creek spot speaks to me as well. I've been studyin' the mapola and it's a pretty simple drive from Sisters.
Reportedly there are pictographs along Squaw somewhere. THAT would be cool.
Please remember to substitute "Squaw" with "Whychus" if you have to!
Directions:
Get your ass to Sisters on US20
Go NORTH on Camp Polk Road AKA Locust St. (on the eastside of downtown)
(note: Camp Polk Road is a loop and continues back towards 126, you don't want to do that)
go about 2.5 miles on Camp Polk
turn LEFT on Wilt Road/FS900
in about 5 miles stay left, this turns into FS6380, and then into FS63 "Squaw Flat Road"
In about 2 miles, turn RIGHT on FS1393/Squaw Creek Road. Follow it about 2 miles to the end and the creek.
PLAN B is anywhere along the way! Watch for that orange hubcap. I will try to post a map too.
You can also come in from the north from Cove Pallisades and get to road 63.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
Google maps shows it 24 miles shorter going through Madris but you suggest going by way of Sisters? Are the roads better from Sisters?
I did find directions matching what you listed above.
Anyone check the road condition / forecast for hwy 22 or 20 into Sisters?
No one else up for a camp out?

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
Passes look to be rainy/snowy sloppy. No chains forecasted.
From Madras, it's a long slow twisty way down and out of Cove Pallisades, then a long gravel drive afterward. I did it once. Very scenic, but slower.
Where did you find other directions? Please post what you found!

Did this work?
It should show two suggested routes. "A" being Hwy 26 over Hood and "B" I-5 to Sisters.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
Didn't work, try that sucka again.
BTW Squaw Creek AKA Whychus does not have a bridge and does not appear to be crossable without 4WD. You have to come in from the west side of the creek, either from Sisters or Cove Pallisades.

See you tonight.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
While that route would get you there, you would be stuck on the wrong side of the creek. No bridge.
I'm thinkin about 26 to redmond then across to Sisters. I5 is kinda depressing.
Here is a map with directions from US26, if you are coming from I5 just get off at 22 or US20 EAST.
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Port ... a=1,2&z=12
Here is most of the way, via Cove Pallisades. It may be shorter, who knows...

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
Sweet. I'll be showing up late Friday as usual. Heck, I might even make it before you guys pass out this time...
Whats the firewood scene like out there? Should we pack in some backup?
Also, we'll all be coming in from Sisters, eh? Just in case the spot get moved, we should all take the same route so that orange hubcap gets spotted.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
I am coming through sisters and can bring firewood if need be.
I don't know my arrival status at the moment. Depends on a doctors appointment, what the weather is doing, and the road conditions Friday over the pass.
Packing things today so I will be ready to go Friday.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
50s and 30s not too bad. Wilderness! Nothing like it.
HEY BTW, Monday is Veteran's Day, and Eva doesn't have school...hmmm maybe we should get out there Friday instead and come back Monday. Is anyone able to do that?
Bring firewood if you can! It'll probably be wet out there.

Re: November Middle Cascades Camp?
with a dry forecast, hauling wood to the land of ponderosa seems loopy. my only one priority is an abundance of too much free firewood at/near any/either site. i'm swamped on all fronts, but can camp with this one condition met.
