Itinerant Air-Cooled Greetings To Oregon
But first:
It was here outside of Wendover NV that I ripped the original vent window seals outta the BobD, with deep misgivings. I have found that the replacement seals have been too stiff, and many vent windows across the land have refused to ever close again with these new seals.
A Portrait In Consternation At Ripping Out Original Parts:
Discovered a little factory trick.. The ends of the seals had foam fillers:
I *think* these may have served one or the other or both of two possible purposes:
1) wind noise abatement - could these vent seals whistle like a piccolo from the top of the door down to the bottom as the air extractors pull?
The Other) shape defense - does the foam help keep the seal pushing out properly as it negotiates the tight crunch of the window frame and surround seal?
The Wolfsburg West vent window seals fit perfectly, got the factory foam insertion tricks, windows shut perfectly . . . a real relief as the BobD slowly loses its originality one painful operation at a time.
I am an hour from the Oregon border here on July 24th. Did my annual pool level check of Lake Shasta.
August 24 2007 from the Road Warrior:
July 23 2014 from the BobD:
August 24 2007 from the Road Warrior:
July 23 2014 from the BobD:
Signs for the boat ramps all said "closed". I can see why:
At first, I thought this was THE Mount Shasta, so triggered am I about water crises. I was going to post a horrified commentary about I how I miss snow and snow-capped peaks and look!
Well, here is the real Mount Shasta:
2003
2014 . . .
I am off to Oregon, good-bye to that soothing eyeball-melting southwest desert heat! First stop is Eugene, to visit with skindaddio and whoever else drops by:

Your timing is perfect. We just had a major rain dump and temps down in the 50's, but the heat is on starting tomorrow and clear sky's ahead.
I better get stuff ready.

Yes. This morning, we are doing Sluggo's long-suffering front suspension.71whitewesty wrote:Your timing is perfect. We just had a major rain dump and temps down in the 50's, but the heat is on starting tomorrow and clear sky's ahead.

Have good time in Portland Colin. We'll be enjoying the leisure life in the San Juan Islands this week.

Hammy - Yes. Unless an asteroid hits Portland, then you're all screwed.
Cheryle - Likely/yes (as Ruck said yes)
Fancy - He disappeared a few years ago it seems.
Zora - Once in a while, maybe, maybe not?
Kiltguy - Also disappeared.
Snap - Dunno either, usually busy.
Vistacruzer - He's there. Right now, at 1:30AM. Chatting it up with the bar tenders.
Oregon72 - Dunno
jmiller - Unlikely, he usually works Mondays, although would be cool to see him! =D
pj - Dunno.
IFBwax - Won't see him there, although we could probably see him. =P
Papasmurf - Dunno
bus-less dhoch14 - Dunno
Kubelwagen - Likely also!

Re: Itinerant Air-Cooled Greetings To Oregon
Saw Fancypants last week and told him he should try to make it. He's working a music festival this weekend with his record label.Xelmon wrote:Fancy - He disappeared a few years ago it seems.
Kiltguy - Also disappeared.
Also saw WestyFrank last week and told him if he makes it to the Lab one time this year, it should be this coming Monday.
Kiltguy went to ComicCon in Sandy Eggo, might or might not be back in town by tomorrow.
Don't know about the rest.
.. I didn't make the list, nobody loves me ..

What time, and what's the address? I guess I can make one of my three pilgrimages a year into Portland to come see you, especially since you made the drive out here.
