Very nice! So in the interest of furthering my air-cooled education... what's the difference between a 411 and a 412? Sorry for the newb-ish question, but I haven't explored the Type 4 vehicles, only the Type 4 engine in my bus.

The early 411's had a interesting front nose that most people didn't like at all. It was redesigned to be more pleasing....cool cars.

Sweet car.. are those vents always like that... behind the back windows or was that a mod?
The best navigators aren't sure where they're going until they get there. And then they're still not sure.

All US 411/412's had FI, early ones had 80hp 1.7's (W code) and later ones had 1.8l's. Most had auto trannies.chachi wrote:so which cars had what engines? and did they have carbs like buses of those years?

Re: car on Bainbridge Island
Sorry I am so late in responding to this, but I only just now discovered this forum, just today. Now, as to this car on Bainbridge Island, THAT WAS ME!!!! But by now the picture is gone so I don't know which one of my type-4s I had on the island that day. I have three of them: a 1974 red 412 wagon, a 1974 silver blue 412 fastback, and a 1971 yellow 411 wagon. I hope I'm not too late with my reply!!!

Re: car on Bainbridge Island
Come on down to Portland on a Monday evening. Many of us are usually at the Lucky Lab in NW. It would be fun to see a type 4.
