Wiper function has been restored after I successfully re-soldered the terminal to the wiper motor, upside down, under the dash, feeding solder thru the front vent opening. I am impressed. A Mercury astronaut on the launch pad.
Instrument lites now work. Bad bulbs, dirty connections, dirty switch rheostat.
Rewired the circuit to the back tail lights. A mad journey but it is safely tucked out of the way. It was fried all the way back!
Gypsie helped with trying to get the turn signals fixed but it was getting late. Emergency flasher switch was disassembled, but no fault was found. Left side turn signals would work properly for a spell, then quit. Right side does nothing. Pulling the emergency switch blows the appropriate fuse. I am leaning towards a short in the right signal circuit, but am not at all sure how to climb this mountain. Ironically, the hack job on the wiring by the P.O. wasn't really extensive, but has caused extensive problems. I'm sure sitting in a non-climate controlled building for 15 years without windows hasn't been kind to connections.
Also, the high beam relay works now. Why? Why ask. Thank you.
