Gas Prices
According to the IAC expense analyst, I am in trouble. Using last year's analytics, average distance to each customer was 432 miles. Average fuel mileage was 18.3 mpg. Average fuel cost to each call was $79.00. Using last year's numbers with today's gas prices expected to settle in the $4.00-$4.25 range, I will be averaging $101.00 in fuel expenses just to show up at your door asking for a cup of coffee. If I have fewer visits than last year, the distance-per goes up.
Please offer your input:
A) Restore rates back to $420.00
B) Keep the current $400.00 and ask only for voluntary contribution.
What say you?

Re: Gas Prices
an across the board increase would seem to make the most sense, so it guarantee's (as much as possible) covering expenses. depending on donations is nice because in this community you could probably count on it happening, but you cannot guarantee it and id rather see everyone pay that worry that a trip might not be in the cards at some future date.....
im also worried that my stop could be cost prohibitive with the swing from Oregon to Colorado before trekking back to Humboldt county.
of course if it came to that id gladly just cruz to whatever spot out in the middle of nowhere that makes more sense driving distance and weather wise, as ive seen what you can do without a garage or access to a workshop full of tools. county mile marker 3489 at 9am?

That was an idiotic cut-n-paste courtesy Hair-trigger Google Chrome. Thanks for pointing that out. If I had dates next to that, you'd have grounds to commit me to a nice sanitarium.airkooledchris wrote:an across the board increase would seem to make the most sense, so it guarantee's (as much as possible) covering expenses. depending on donations is nice because in this community you could probably count on it happening, but you cannot guarantee it and id rather see everyone pay that worry that a trip might not be in the cards at some future date.....

Get a Sprin.... no, never mind. : )
Honestly, given the exigencies, $420 doesn't sound that much worse than $400, especially considering the value given.
Actually, now that I think of it, 420 is an EXCELLENT figure.

Re: Gas Prices
Seriously, the Portland/Eugene crowd probably prefer 420, er $420...
Anyway, I vote for moving it to $450 to make it a round number and to encourage you to:
1. Live slightly less on the edge
2. Finish your book
In that order, I guess, though number 2 is higher on my personal list of desires at some level.

Re: Gas Prices
Have you considered placing some modest advertising on thesamba, busdepot, germansupply, etc? Maybe the IAC facebook page could solicit for appointments to all of its friends? Maybe offer a free day to an un-or-underemployeed IAC member for bringing in a few new customers? I just have a hard time believing that your list isn't way more full then it is. What about a short video (Neil?) explaning what you do and how to book an appointment that we could pass around to our non-iac vw friends?

Re: Gas Prices
I did marketing and sales for years. I think it'd be easy to do a range of things to up the IAC revenue, but have until now kept my trap shut on account of the fact that I assume Mr. C prefers things his own way ~ the extra time and space seems to suit him.
Colin? Are you looking to fill in that schedule? If so, how much ?
