I have a pair of heads for a 1700 type 4. I have cleaned them in an ultrasonic cleaner and they look good. $125.00 for the pair.

Pictures if interested

Details? Original VW valves and seats? Those are the oval ports, right? Ever been flycut?

I am willing to ship them. I don't believe they have ever been cut and they are oval ports. I will take and post pictures when I get home tonight. Not sure about valves and seats.

Let me know what other questions you might have, but I don't know much about the heads beyond what you can see.
I removed them from an engine that I bought for the case and the exhaust. I am picking up my new heads Friday from Len Hoffman,
I will see if he'll assess these.

OK, so when I picked up my new heads from Len (they are so beautiful) I asked him to look at these heads I have for sale. His assessment was that they are 'Q' heads that would have originally come on a 411 or a 914. At some point they were rebuilt by VW and they have VW valves in them. They were fly cut at that time, but not deeply. One cylinder apparently had something get in it and and cause some minor damage, but nothing major. The spark plug threads are clean and the exhaust studs are good. No cracking is evident. Len's advise was to put them on e-bay, make note they are Q heads, and send them to a new home. I offered them here first so i will wait a day or two before going the e-bay route. I also have a local 914 guy interested in them, but no money yet.
