Geoff, are your 914 heater control pods (lever arms where the cables attach) the same as your bus, or opposite? I found an odd pair of pods in my stash today with the levers going opposite of how I'm used to, and a 914 is the only thing I can think of that would explain the swapped lever direction…

The heater control box is totally different animal than a VW as it's more 911 or like a Vanagon.

"or like a Vanagon" which is a Volkswagen. Can you describe how it is different?
Google has not helped me to answer this question.

In a 914 and Vanagon the control box has horizontal sliding levers. A 914 has 3 controlling fresh air fan speed, fresh air to the dash or footwell and the lower one controls the heat to defrost or footwell. Vanagon has two levers for these with a switch for fan speed.

Ok, I see where the communication is breaking down… Here are the parts I found in my garage. They don't fit a bus, because the operational levers are 180° out. Would they fit a 914?

I am staying single port but will have Len work his magic on them maybe with bigger valves and porting plus coating the combustion chamber.I am thinking about going with old school dual single carbs for that 356 look.
Why does Len keep saying that he does not work on Type 1 heads?
Colin
I think he does work on T1 heads if you ask him?

Yes, he will entertain the prospect if you're serious. He PM'd me last year when I was in absolutely no financial situation to go through with an order…

Not what he TOLD me! April 2017! Why I otter . . . I would not have monkeyed with tapping in partially installed seats and driving around the country with a cracked valve guide, remember all that, Robbie? I got a couple of used heads from people here (Bus71), but I would have of course gone Len at the time.

To replace the fan I dug out of my stash a NOS early fan complete with the plastic nose. Thought I'd show a pic of it with the numbers on it.

Hey Geoff . . . guess what I got in the mail?

Yeah, look it, look it. Eat your heart out everybody. OEM cosmoline at no extra cost.

I think they use the bus ones. Remember a 914's engine is facing forward.

Finally found the correct plaid for the seats and investigating the cost to repair/restore the seats to their former glory. I have leather seats which was a rare option so I want to have the worn piece replaced and new plaid inserts made like this picture.
