Re: Finally!
After years of trying vainly to get the intermittent wipers to work, I finally solved the problem. I was missing a little brass grounding piece that wasn't included in the purchase of a used correct wiper switch w/intermittent function. So nice to solve the puzzle!!!!!!

Did this grounding piece look like an open brass rivet?Bleyseng wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 8:05 amAfter years of trying vainly to get the intermittent wipers to work, I finally solved the problem. Did it have a path to the intermittent relay with a brown plus black or white tracer wire?

Re: Finally!
Yes, the brown/black wire traces to the intermittent relay, IIRC the S terminal.

Re: Finally!
Thank-you. Your washer hose nipples appear to take a trip down towards actual accessible. Mine are hellaciously stuffed up inside the column housing. Why does your switch have those longer washer hose nipples?

Re: Finally!
Those elongated nipple fittings are available new, complete with valve for pneumatic late bays. I was told yesterday by a '77 Westy owner that they do fit in the late bay column.

Re: Finally!
You can merely slip a little heat shrink tubing over the hoses at installation time, light a match and,
voila! leak-free ... oh, and electric pumps can find leaks too, of course.

Re: Finally!
Aye, I am all pneumatic on the bug and electric on the bus; I enjoy both. The bus has a trick "stock looking" button that activates the pump via microswitch and relay, while leaving the electrical portion of the stock switch untouched.
When 'lectrifying your washer bottle, make sure the pump is below the reservoir for priming. I learned that the hard way with one $18 Amazon pump…

Re: Finally!
No, the washer hose nipples are long to fit inside the column housing just like any VW. I don't have a stock spare tire in the 914 as it's a 911 space saver one complete with air pump as I have 911 5 bolt setup and 16" rims on the car.
I'm back from a trip to visit in Serbia a lost branch of my family. Also a stop in Köln, Germany to pick up Bus parts and visit IBFWax's Charlie Brown 79 Bus he sold to a friend of mine. Lots of little BS repairs to the bus to get it to pass Tüv and get historic plates so it can be driven in Germany. Fortunately, BusOk is 10 minutes away for parts. Buses this nice and original (80,000) are hardly driven anymore in Germany so it will be a show bus plus used in my friend's hobby business, BeardPride beard oils.

Re: Finally!
So Charlie has been approved to drive on Germany's roads now and with historic plates. The repairs were mostly to renew the rubber brake lines front and rear plus new rear shoes, brake cylinders etc plus a little rust repair under the slider door. Instead of two young girls riding in the back there are two fantastic dogs who already love riding around in the back as Charlie navigates the twisty roads from village to village about 20 minutes from Köln.
