You’re closer!

Nice pictures.
Hey look, a reply, a real reply . . . .

Of course! I’m following these travels from afar. Makes me feel at home even when I’m as far as one could be....without being off the planet.

Sheesh, I am just an old fool who likes cars too much.
Except the poor, maligned Gremlin apparently.
I always thought AMC had a good, idiosyncratic design sense. Very much of their time, too, for better or worse (considering that that time includes the contemporary VW bus, also very obviously a product of a certain time, my verdict falls upon 'for better'). The 1971 Javelin is, in this writer's humble opinion, the most beautiful muscle car of them all.

Well, my heart does go out to any abandoned car staring at a wall, it is true, but every *design* speaks its creators' intentions. The Gremlin was a little too self-conscious in its "daring", much like the successor Pacer. I did like the Javelin's (the original Gremlin before it got its tail lopped off) appearance, but the engineering was pedestrian. The VW, on the other hand was honest in engineering and execution.

No, sorry. Additional fuel charge of $65.00 per fifteen minutes runtime. Kickdown costs an additional $9.00 per event.

Do you record your fuel mileages in a Lincoln Log?

I'll see myself out.

I suspect that the mpg on the highway at similar speeds as the bus would be pretty darn close......I drove a '63 Cad' Sedan De'Ville to Miami from Detroit and I was averaging 15-17 mpg and I kept it at around 70 mph. Although granted, it was a 4 speed (yes Virginia, they did make 4 speed automatics in the early sixties). :flower:

Oh, I have driven this car from Rochester to Providence and NYC and back and one trip up to Plattsburgh NY, and it returns an honest 12 mpg. It is not a pretty thing to see a $67.00 fill-up every 200 miles.
