A lotta grins here, right? Right? Colin leaves 'em rolling in the aisles. New Miami Cuban slang: "Hold, please!"

The Boehner Tan Boyz in the Bahama Manny Diaz Tree Farm Tour Bus, doing some engine ring break in work, and trying to figure out the impossibly lean running of this bus.

Experiencing the full breeze effect, which is still refreshing here in Miami.

Very nicely, after the throttle body gasket leak was eradicated.

Just before he managed to swallow a bee, Colin captivated my granddaughter Annabella with his drawing skills. And, I guess, she captivated the itinerant curmudgeon.

Great post and really great photos! I guess this is pre-bee. Hope you're doing ok Colin. Seems like not much of a break in the itinerary this year for you.
Stay well, we need you.

I used to want to move to Portland for the Volkswagen community. Now I'm thinking Florida because everyone seems to be smiling and having a good time.....

Colin, I can send you a metric epi-pen to keep with you for future travels... I hope you're feeling better by now! I've never seen a kid so interested in lubrication system diagrams. Or was she being quizzed on fuel pumps?

Here is what my Annabella was watching Colin draw up. And it shows the vast scope of work able to be covered in an Itinerant day. Quite satisfying. Less than satisfactory feelings about my second Adrian rebuild here. Please note the compression test results, and the initial valve adjustment appears to indicate wear...and this is a new rebuild that I had hoped to run for at least 100,000 miles (I should live so long). Being on site with Colin over at VW Treasure's engine install was an eye opener. Expanding spray foam in the heater boxes?! Among other things. As a person, I like Adrian at Headflow Masters, but I must now seriously question the quality of his finished product. We cannot be expected to deal with the present lack of attention to detail that is issuing from his shop. Pulling an engine that you have just installed and broken in is a real depressing piece of work. I recommended Headflow Masters to VW Treasure, and I was pretty distressed to see the long list of deficiencies the guys had written up when I got over to their place. Adrian needs to slow down and give us the product that he was turning out several years ago, from my understanding of his earlier work. I'm sure Colin will weigh in further.

Yeah, that was it. I forgot all that after I drank theat tasty bee/bug/fire ant . . .

So, yes, I will be most interested in your 200 mile valve adjustment.

You have *wear* if it takes less than 1 1/2 turns to find the "0" lash point.

It is a bone-chilling 62* here in the frosty reaches of northern Florida. I miss that 88*.

@Amskeptic It's been a week since you left us and we are still talking about what a great time we had with you. It was a pleasure to welcome you into our family and to name you our honorary "cuban brother". Better start prepping for the spring....this time we'll be ready for you! :thumbleft:

Let's see . . . a "Miami VW Guy". I am going to guess . . . Ralph! Am I right, am I right? Thank-you for hosting us at your garage till all hours, and thank you for your wiring chops, very very helpful. If you need any online assistance with windows and whatnot, do not hesitate to PM me. I'll be out in the cold and wet, piteously attempting to clean out my Westy's fuel tank, recalling the warmth amongst the palm trees.
