I just looked this up in my owners manual. You know that beautiful beige early bay in the two page spread in the back? Those white ducts COMPLETELY make the interior form that perspective. The lines and palettes all come together so well. I thought the one I saw in the swap pile last week was painted junk… Now…
You saw one, a real one?

Mine will soon be painted junk as soon as I find a vinyl plastic paint that matches. It has to cover well and quickly so the grain doesn't get all filled in.

I saw one beaten, cracked, and permanently dirty one. Thought it was a hack...

I have used Rust-O-Leum Plastic Primer with good success on NON-textured plastics, but I can not speak for it on grain.

1) If they are not leaking, leave them be. Did you put washers under the nuts?
I did not use washers. And I did not forget to reply here, see?

No washers, as per John @ aircooled.net who sold me the pump:
Install the cover, and use 4 NEW oil-pump nuts (with the red sealing washers), with the red against the oil pump cover.
I knew there was a reason I did things the way I did. I never said it was MY reason…

Did you see any distortion of the cover plate? Mine was a mess of gouged metal at the holes. I like tricks that work as well as anyone, but that plate should have factory-determined fastener surface area, (as per the function of washers, hello). as per Colin @ Itinerant Air-Cooled.
