Adjust the accelerator cable to have too much slack and drive it "floored" like Chloe :cherry:

Very good idea.

My first compression test within minutes of pulling the BobD out of storage was a (new stupid use of the word- coming up > ) "concerning" 105/135/110/135. :pale:
Pondered all the way down here to Pensacola the fact that an opposing cylinders were sharing the same low compression figures. That would, of course, mean a flat camshaft lobe, most likely an intake.

Here, 400 miles later, I did a compression test again. 142/147/142/147. :cyclopsani:
Moral of the story: don't do a compression test fresh after sitting for a year.
Colin
(p.s. I no longer trust my 35 year old compression tester's actual numbers - the Lexus was also unusually high. Where/how do we calibrate these things?)

is the BobD doing the tour out west as well?

back in 2001 when I took my 76 Westy from SF to the Grand Canyon and back, I drove 55 the entire way through the desert. (which sucked since the speed limit was 75 and everyone went 10+ that)

22MPG for one full tank at that pace. that motor had 190K miles on it at that time... (it eventually threw a rod through the case, which was probably my own doing in my novice days.)

I shall pop some 'ludes and toke up, settle back with with my throttle cable flopping, and let you know how we do on my trip to Miami.
"Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"Offalsure, yer crashin my buzz."

I've been waiting for a picture of those two beauties together. Somewhere in the middle of Arizona I passed this sign post than encapsulated both their itinerant spirits:
