Its her white eye brows isnt it?
It is the very last man made object I'd like to see on Earth as it reverts to lush balance.

I have a friend in Minneapolis that could use a half or whole day to get their engine a once over. They need to drive a 74 hightop adventurewagen from Minneapolis to Seattle later this fall, and the engine is already pretty low on compression. (sub 90# on one cyl at least)

I half walked them through getting it started over the phone today, after it sat in their back yard for the past two years. it's a 2.0 with dual dellorto carbs, and I don't know if it's solid or hydraulic lifters unfortunately. either way the lifters probably haven't been touched once since the engine was built 5-6 years ago in South San Francisco. it also hasn't driven much since then, other than to move to Minnesota.

He's wanting to, maybe, limp it back to Seattle if possible. I told them to trailer the thing and work on it when they have time, but he seems to think it'll make it (because it's always made it before, and with their last bus as well.) I think they are just lucky to have never broken down before.

Anyway, I know the schedule is filling up and I don't see enough of a gap for them, but if it's possible ill relay the date and the pricing info and try to get you two together and (hopefully) get that bus back out to the west coast. It's a cool bus that deserves a lot of love, it's just been neglected for a while and needs a good Dr to lay hands upon it....

My frist trip down the Alcan was in a 71 sqaureback I went from Anchorage to Tucson to pickup my girl friend in 1979 I made up a bed in the back boy I was younger and thiner back then. Going through the Arizona dessert in mid summer for one from Alaska was a bit much but the old type 3 never let me down I did start a main seal leak going home about 600 mile from home but kept it full made it home fixed it the next week. Say Colin do you have a shop? if so where is it at?

Okay, here's a map. Clickable version here.

Of course the specifics of the route to be taken are fictitious, given Colin's tendency to wander in search of pastures and desert washes and such, but should be good enough to give some appreciation of the journey's length. The markers are color-coded by month, with the number inside being the date.

woohooo..I have a "D"...

One minor tweak to save you from driving around Coventry looking for me is that I live in Bristol, which is about 35 miles west on Rt 84. (My town listed is Coventry)

I can't wait!

Thanks again for stopping.
