and a Vacuum leak was all it was. I had only hand tightened the intake runners to the head on the 3/4 side (I swapped out the tin, so my Federal heater box could connect to the blower fan.)

I had it running perfectly within 15 minutes after hunting for a vacuum source tonight. Now to tackle that leaky passenger side rear wheel cylinder. The fun never ceases!

What? What? You think my heart attack is going to just go away now that you found a ......... vacuum leak?
I had visions of overly tight endplay wrecking the front main bearing, then your alternator eating a bearing, then I read about your distributor and thought, did I send a shard into the oil port for the distributor bushings?
Glad you found it, you have been vacuum leak punked.
Speaking of finding it, when you send my backing plate adjuster plugs to Lanval, could you also send down my 10mm craftsman socket + 3" 3/8 drive extension????

Thank you Chris, the care package arrived, and the satchmo-mailed brake adjuster backing plate plugs are now back on the bus. So ... update?

I had no idea what sizes those flywheel shims were when I sent them. They were in that bag of case hardware we were digging through briefly before taking your stash. I haven't had much luck trying to track you down a spare 36, so im relieved one of the three I sent was a 39

So for the update.. it's running great. My head temps are looking good and the thermostat flaps have been functioning properly (expanding when hot and actually pulling the flaps open once cold.)
The heater dump tubes are properly secured, albeit without hollowed out aluminum cans or miles of RTV keeping it in position. I also messed around with the sliding door spacers and got it to line up properly and pull in tight to the seal. Those two little dips in the path of the lower roller aren't nearly as noticeable with it properly spaced into position.

the only issue not resolved is the oil leak:

It's still coming down and dripping off of the bottom of the oil filter, which I think is coming from inbetween the case and the jug for #4

Im not sure where the oil is coming from that is collecting at that front spot, as I would typically think that's the main flywheel seal but it's done now and the volume hasn't changed from before. But it's not too bad, it seems to only leak really when it's cold as after a long drive and letting it sit for a bit it looks bone dry. It isn't until it's totally cooled off and later in the day or next morning that I notice these few little drops.

And I can live with a little oil leak. Im super happy that my engine has a proper method of warming up, considering my climate and style of driving I do. Not to mention getting the starter replaced, the heater box to heater tinware sortedas well as fixing that endplay.
