Same here. Looking forward to reading/seeing it. Photos of the Duck always made me do a double take... it's the same year and color as ours but obviously without the Westy kit.

I wonder how close they were on the assembly line. Hope you enjoy the backroads Colin!

Heck, I'll take just a sunny day. This weather has me almost upside down.

I will throwing myself upon the mercy of others starting today.

Engine pull of the To Be Renamed Ruptured Duck to desperately try to cancel a vibration in the engine.
Attempt to switch over CHT gauge to Type 1 #3 spark plug area.
Lubrication/bearing/brake check.
Transfer all my travelling road show to TBRRD.
This at Hambone Manor.

Keith Ebbert appointment in White Salmon Washington will be the first TBRRD journey.

:silent: If it is a FAIL:
Put everything back in the BobD and scram to California and rest of itinerary, after dropping off the TBRRD at pj's CandyApple Red Volkswagen Palace in Battleground (his wife offered to sacrifice the garage spot of her daily driver, it just brings tears to my eyes). Fly to Portland from Atlanta GA to pick up TBRRD after the itinerary or, my preference,
do a road trip to Portland and have full tool back-up with a willing co-driver.

:thumbleft: If it is a success:
The BobD gets to rest at the pj Palace until I fly/drive to Portland from Atlanta in late September.
or something

It'll be interesting. In my experience a T1 bus knows only a loosely defined schedule. It gets there when it gets there. Hopefully it doesn't throw a wrench into your punctual-itinerant style.

I find my bus to be exceedingly reliable and punctual; however it is a bit slower. All of my camp trips are planned on a pretty thin margin, and God knows if the road will still be there when you get there! But after many years of this, I see that it is an exceptional vehicle for these high demands. Incredible really.

My sentiment has nothing to do with reliability. All I mean is that in a modern car I can pretty much judge how long it will take to get somewhere based solely on how many miles must be traveled. 100 miles? An hour and a half. Just about anytime, anywhere. In the bus? Could be anywhere on up to three hours. It just depends. How many stops and starts? Hills? I can't plan to be somewhere within a 5 minute window. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

If you need any help or work spaces in the SF Bay area, let me know. Maybe we could even meet for beer and pizza and give a toast to the DUCK! :occasion5:

How about 'Troy' since he was thrown under said bus for the first page and a half of this thread.

I kid, I kid. :flower:

I'm curious as well for an explanation for the need to rename. I don't get it. Doesn’t the RD have good mojo?

Imagine you have picked up a great soul of a dog from the pound.
You looked into the dog's eyes and you see a spirit.
The pound person says, "the dog's name is Miss Kibbles".
You say, "thanks, bye."
And you think to yourself, "This will not do."

I understand, but try thinking of it like it's the Boy Named Sue. Built to be tough. Better yet, think of it like that B-25 Mitchell from the Doolittle Raid. Those planes were known to protect their crews and despite terrible punishment.

Whatever you do, of course, will be fine.

If you must change the name and if you are looking for feedback I vote "Bookwus"...
