We need to put a small positive spin on this, make it a legend like Jan and Dean's "Dead Man's Curve", or Red Sovine's "Phantom 309"
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

I guess there are some positives from that horrible night. Most importantly is that you weren't seriously injured. The bus did exactly what it was supposed to do in a collision - it kept you safe. And although the Road Warrior is gone, many of the parts live on to help keep other buses running, including mine.
It was a good day though.
It was a good day though.
"The bus is the real talisman. It's the thing that runs through all of this history. It's not a thing anybody owns or controls. No matter how peeved you get with people, the bus always makes your heart jump. Everybody was attached to it."

Those photos still make me sad. However, I'm ever grateful that we didn't lose the driver as well. Not every chapter of a book can be happy, it's the grand total of the entire story that counts - thanks for choosing to continue sharing yours with all of us.

Happier anniversaries should be celebrated, like the Great Stinkfoot Rebellion. I am glad these pix are blocked at my "job".

I am still amazed by how absolutely beautiful and perfect the Road Warrior looks from the behind the front door all the way back in that photo. It looks so surreal...and sad.
I am even more amazed and gladdened that you could walk away from that collision.

I am demented (but you know that). Today I just tore off those remaining Firestones and put the Road Warrior's remaining three good Michelins on the BobD, and it made me happy.aopisa wrote:I am still amazed by how absolutely beautiful and perfect the Road Warrior looks from the behind the front door all the way back in that photo. I was sad at bretski's house spying the dashboard up on a shelf along with the firewall and the AutoZone voltage regulator, trying to be sociable but damnitall.

I get the M-Code plate and a hubcap to paint another picture of the Road Warrior.

The M-code plate... Colin should definitely keep the M-code plate. And the Odometer.

I got the dash knobs & ashtray. Reminded of the Road Warrior every time I turn on my lights or put out a smoke. BobD is a fine replacement to carry on the mission!
