Things are tightening up alarmingly. I have a potential fancypants engine break-in appointment on the 4th in the late afternoon, depending on how things work out for him in the meantime.

NW in Sept? You'd love it. Dry and warm, bleu skies. Usually.

Start from the beginning. Speak slowly and clearly.

I sense a disturbance in the VW force. Colin must be approaching.

She even started first tick this morning. My poor bus is running scared!

Where is our intrepid hero?

Colin visited with us and our bus in Santa Cruz on Friday. An excellent productive and fun day. The highlight was a carburator rebuild involving a Dremel tool (to free a misaligned idle plunger bore) but we also replaced a completely closed brake hose (with a genuine BobD loaner) and spent some quality time with a variety of head light dimmer relays. It was a very nice and sunny and warm day in Santa Cruz with lots of attractive bikini-clad beachgoers walking by and commenting on our buses (well, mostly on the shiny BobD). It would have made an excellent episode for the IAC reality show, especially with the dramatic discussion of the Great Type 4 Bearing Shortage at the local Volkscafe. I even got Colin to drink two of my home-brewed IPAs. As always, well worth the investment!

Exceptionally fine home-brew beer and good conversation on the deck overlooking the Pacific after a lovely little spin over to the VW parts house in a sprightly Porsche Boxster that I managed to stall more than once and perform a clumsy heel-and-toe double-clutch downshift at 17 mph (wooo race boy here) with unexpected sunshine and beachgoers who did not make me forget to tighten float bowl screws ( . . . Myopolis take note). Good bus, one of my favorites.
