You New Yorkers have too much can-do initiative battling the lake-effect blizzards to install engines and CV joints in the icy sheets of sideways wind. Unless you want to change that . . .

Thanks, it would be a pleasure. Warn me again a week before arrival. I am swimming in messages, factoids, dates, and minutae.

Any time left in Portland?

Post by Papasmurf73 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 5:20 pm

Hey Colin-
I am writing on behalf of the Rogue River Riviera's here in Portland, OR. We were the gang in the corner of Maupin last year with our own bar. I'm hoping I'm not too late in showing our interest in 2 full days of your time here in Portland after Maupin. The main goal is to do a complete tear down of my motor on my 73' Riviera to uncover the wierd knock that I had you listen to last year. Possibly a bearing issue?! There will be other projects on my buddies busses as well. Looking at your calander, I was thinking possibly 6/27 & 6/28 or 6/24 & 6/27. What do you think?

Weird! I swear I sent an email to add me to the Portland list...but was wondering about splitting a day into 2 half days for diagnosis, then me cleaning, then the next half day for putting everything back together again. Possible? Am I too late??? Eeek! :pale:

Colin, just acquired a 6 rib tranny and will have it rebuilt in 2 weeks time.
Besides the clutch plate & throw out bearing and main seal (Which kind is the best again?) what else should I consider doing while the engine is out? Beside painting the engine compartment of course. The bowden tube is 3 to 4 years old so it's probably still good.

How close to the heart of the Portland are you guys? There was some vague recall that the locus of our possible visit was somewhere outside of town. I dearly need recovery time between these 10 hour appointments that tax your mind and my stamina/organization. You will note that I have no dates firmed up after Portland. That would allow us to put you in the first days of July, like July 2-3?

A viton seal is good, Saben brand was it? Engine out work is usually whatever catches your eye. Is the massive electric grid we installed still behaving?

Be sure to introduce yourself to me like you are talking to a hard-of-hearing idiot. My brain gets overloaded by all these people and stuff, so slow repetition really helps, as does spelling out your username or using flash cards. Your car, however, I will remember. It's an autism thing.

Who did the map for this round? Can it be posted again?
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
