Thanks, John!

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it to Maupin this year. :pale:

Funds and other commitments will prevent it. However, I'm sure that someone will be able to drink my share of beer for me. I'll miss seeing you guys this year.

First thing it made me think of was Robert Shaw in Jaws.

You are correct. I rued the decision to bail down to Colorado Springs, but I haddadoowhuddahaddadoo. The symmetry of the avatar composition shows an artistic eye. . . .

Colin, want a passenger when you visit scruffy on October 15? Key West in October sounds great to me. I don't eat much. and the stiffest drink I do is Diet Coke.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Bret, you oughta have a line underneath your avatar that says, "Assume the position!"

Ritter, make mine a scotch on the rocks. After this week I need one. Or three :colors:

Aiight, no more little story posts in General, they have to be official itinerary posts now that I Am On The Road. Still thinking about this though, should I take the Squareback and run up the mileage something horrid to enjoy this 28-30 mpg, or take the bus and pay for the 18-20 mpg?

Fit me in roundabout July!

Post by vwdreamBayb » Sun May 11, 2008 5:43 pm

Hi Colin,
Let me know what day in July you can fit me in. Still here in Leucadia and looking forward to it. Very seriously considering making this my daily driver....

On another note, My gas pedal fell to the floor. The metal piece fell into the little hole and a little spring popped out. It still feels like there is tension on that line that goes back to the engine though. At least it feels like it from the engine side.

Hoping to get it back on the road by thursday or Friday, so if you get a chance give me a call, number is the same. I can always call you back so no long distance charges accrue on your end.

Ah vwdreamBayb. . . . yes, here you are. The bell has already rung!
Anyways, how about August 1st? It is a Friday. I want to have some extra carb parts from satchmo for birdibus AND YOU (particularly jets for you)if you'd like.

There is a relay lever that ataches to the floor under the bus (drop the belly pan if you have one, it's held on with just 6 little 10mm bolts). It takes the "down" from the accelerator pedal, and turns it into the "pull" for the carburetors. That relay lever needs to be present and accounted for.
It sounds like the link that runs from under the accelerator pedal to the relay lever has fallen off. It is normally held on with the accelerator pedal spring, the end of the spring acts like a circlip. Go forth and investigate. You can just stick it back in the relay lever and slap on any sort of retaining method you can think of (originally it was a little spring clip deal)

So, any drop-outs (that'll make a trip to CO possible)?

Yes. But I will have to also consider my expenses carefully. A 200 mile detour down from I-90 for example, will cost me 400miles/20mpg 20 gallons @ 3.90 = $78.00 right there.
