I have seen terrible scenes too.

I've done several clean ups, when idling because of bad weather or in need of some rest.

A nice very small island on chicken lake ( Keewatin river, Northern Manitoba ). I gathered and sorted aluminum cans, ferrous cans, glass. Ready for a friend outfitter to take over the clean up. My canoe was too little to haul that much junk to the place he burns and buries trash.
A larger island in Sweden, the shore made durty from all sorts of trash dumped in the Baltic sea. I used my Boston Whaler ( like ) as a trash barge to haul a lot of shore junk to a disposal place.
A wood in Ireland, Cavan county. Most junk was "made in Germany" from Dusseldorf, Essen "sport fishing" . I burned and buried on a rainy day, to keep busy outdoors.

I do hate, terrible fireplaces. The terrible round pit.
The right way is a small in line fireplace.

On the other hand the last time out we found two deer camps that had been scrubbed spotlessly and the trail was pristine with the exception of the trail marks left behind by some good samaritan to which I added my contribution

Hammy--he said once that their names make them seem old. Russ and Martha. "We sound like we're 80." Maybe that's it.
