We have a 10x10 from Fred Meyer. $20 last summer. Pretty cool, we've had it up and down a bunch of times and it's fairly durable. At $20 its obviously not the heavy accordion pop-up style, you have to assemble some pole and bits. Right on the cusp of being too big, but just about right.

I have one too and I agree. It might be a little pricey compared to the Walmart tent, but that's comparing apples to oranges. The SB is a very high quality product and priced fairly for what you get.

Thanks Bean that may do the trick. I'll take a run over there today.

I agree that the Shady Boy is the best, had one on a previous split I owned. When the time and funds come my way for Els paint and purty things, that is what I will get. For now it will be anything I can make out of poles and tarps around here.

Maybe stupid question but is rain a real posibility at Maupin? Was just going to use rip-stock sail material for shade. Thanks, Barb

Anything is possible, but it's not very likely. Will probably be warm and dry.

Take a sneaky peek at Static's awning at Maupin. He has a cool idea that he is protective of, but I'll distract him with wine while you check it out... :pirate:

Does that attach right to the vanagon?

I just shove it against the van. Worked great for shade in Maupin, this year I'm gonna bring a small tarp or something so I can close one side of it as the sun comes around. I suppose I could take off two legs of it and attach it to the rack on the van or the gutter somehow.

For a non pop top you could just get a tarp and some spring clamps or bungies. Attach tarp on the drivers side rain gutter and the other side to one of our buses...could hook to Hammies and then BOTH of yous guys have shade/rain relief and by hooking it up to the drivers side of the bus you can leave your slider open.

Jasan....that Kelty is the SH*T!!!! BTW...saw a 4x4 sportsmobile (Ford van) complete with pop top in tahoe...got a full tour.....if I didn't have buses I would have one of those...REALLY cool and fun to see in person.

I got the 10x10 Fred Meyer special, $30. Better than a tarp at least.

Don't think I'll recognize yer bus with an awning! (BTW, how is the garden coming along? We are trying our first, like to get your thoughts at Maupin.)

I won't attach it to the bus (if it's even possible!)...hell I don't spend much time in there, just to sleep and wash dishes. The Great Outdoors and all that. I'm not looking forward to setting up the jillion flimsy pieces though. But may it bring "peace" in the family.
Garden is doing pretty well, expanded it this year, 1/3 bigger. The usual boring krops: tomatoes, green beens, snap peas, mutiple squash, beets, karrots, basil, straw-berries. Eva steals most of the straw-berries. Also have a few giant sunflowers doin their strut.
And some wildflowers too! I'm a softie. :flower:
You gonna bring some local brew for us wetlanders? No fancy wine tho, I'm way too un-kouth for dat. :joker: Besides it gives me a headache. But would a foot rub kill you? Geesh.

:geek:

Got a few beers from bean's neck of the woods that I am bringing, might try to see if the local place has there Double IPA in stock still.

We are trying a watermelon in our garden....but the damn thing is taking over. Corn is going NUTS!!! Can't wait to pull an ear off and cook it up or make moonshine...you know, the usual.
