Oh, so this is where the details of this campout are hiding. I might leave Wed after work. But I'm good with carabusing
Up Thurs morning. I have to leave early Friday. Work at noon. "Rusty the Ginerator" will have to stay home with a bum alternator. Greta will make her maiden voyage instead. Mike I will bring your overriders.

Xevin, I've already warned Mary that there's an caravan (cara-bus?) meeting at our place Thursday morning, so if you wanna join up feel free. You already know where we live...

Map with driving directions for the carabus on Thursday. We've actually got some options once we get out a ways past Ripplebrook Ranger Station other than the route it shows -- we could pass 4660 and head down a bit farther to 42 (which *appears* to be paved if it matters), we could take 4660 to 42, we could .. well, look around on that part of the map and see what I see. Bunch of roads that all interconnect, creating multiple possible routes.

Whee!

I was looking at this as well. Earlier I was lead to believe we'd be coming in on NF42 but I see options. Where is it that Hambone suggests?

Bob suggested going out NF46 to NF42 but who knows. NF4660 would take us past the "4/20 birthday camp" spot, and the route mapped is actually more-or-less a route that Chachi and I were looking at exploring from the camp spot but never got around to .. thanks to my dead alternator among other things.

I guess I'll be watching to see what route you post as I will be driving solo Thursday evening.

I'm leaning toward the route as mapped, but to be honest there's not a huge difference between the options once we pull off NF46. I mean, it's not like we're going to change it up and take 26 through Government Camp...

Any work if Colin will be making it for a night?

Just spent the afternoon detailing. I would like pavement if possible but I am not hell-bent on any one thing. Grouping up to split off is also an option. Could be like an "amazing race" style jaunt!

Or I could stuff a sock in it and get dirty with the rest of y'all.

I guess my question is more we don't know where Hambones calling camp. If he's expecting us to be coming in from 42 and we come from another angle we may not see the hubcap turnoff.
Coming in as mapped is my choice and shorter distance.

Yeah, no idea where he's calling camp. Worst case is we don't see the hubcap on whatever route we take and wind up at Summit Lake. From there we could scatter out to find him with a planned regrouping at the lake so we *all* descend -- like locusts! -- on his camp spot.

Robbie, you can always detail it again at camp. =P

If coming from the Hood River side I think the route in is different. That's the way I would come. Hope I can find it, never been there but sounds good. Looks to me like it's paved most of the way but maybe not the last turn off? Anyone know how the roads in are?
