Directions. If you're coming in 84, take 84 east to The Dalles...last exit number 87. Head south on 197 about 35 miles to the flashing light at Tygh Valley.
If you're taking 26 past Government Camp, continue to OR216. Turn left (north) on 197 to Tygh Valley.
Turn right into town...and at the tavern, turn a hard right taking you toward the fair ground. Go past the fairgrounds...stay on the main road...it will turn to gravel with signs saying "Badger Creek Rd". Stay on this for 8 miles give or take. Go straight at the 27 junction (27 is paved to the right - don't take this!). Turn LEFT on 130 about 1/2 mile past the junction. It will be steep and narrow down into the canyon.

The camp is where the N South Road drops down into Lil B canyon. "NS Road" no longer exists past the camp, the map is wrong.
Plan B: (Our camp spot from 2010, just above Lil B on the other side of the canyon)
Continue past 130. and you'll pass a small parking area with toilet on your left (Little Badger hike-in camp) .... continue on another mile or so, and you'll see a two track to your left with a little road marker that says something like 1002710 .... turn here...we will be on this road.
Plan C: Somewhere along Badger Creek Road on the way in...
We'll put a sign up, don't fret. Unless the damn badgers steal the sign again.

Anybody out there? It's only a couple weeks away and I need to make plans for childcare etc.
The choice is March 23 or April 1st. I know we already voted but I don't want to exclude anyone.

Re: Oregon Eastside Camp - March 29-April 1 2012
Any chance of snow down in those canyons? I doubt it but you never know. Bring your chains. Mark, have you been down that way this season? I've heard it's been a dry winter on the Eastside.
I am gunning for getting out there Thursday, but WHICH Thursday is the question. Since I opened this here can of worms you see.
If for whatever reason we are unable to get to Lil' B then we'll be someplace obvious along the same route.
And where is Sluggo, King of Kamps?

Re: Oregon Eastside Camp - March 29-April 1 2012
Nope, haven't been down there. But, it's been relatively dry over here...and no sign of major precip in the near future. When I look up at the hills there is snow in the trees in the "lower" elevations. I'd think you could get down in there...but I'd definitely have a plan "B" on the topside. Like up where we camped with Westy78 a couple years ago. Wish I could make it...but spring break I'm slammed with family and river stuff. Next year I'll pick a date early April and set it in stone ... we used to do this trip early April, no? Have fun and tip a few for me.

Re: Oregon Eastside Camp - March 29-April 1 2012
Thanks Mark for the field report!
2008 was early April, most other BC trips have been late March. I checked my old photos. Next year no excuses, it's weird to camp in your backyard without you.
April 20ish I'm hoping for a birthday backpack trip down Eagle Creek...but you know how that goes around here! Hopefully the weather will warm up too. Oh there's also the seasonal spring camp to Grouse-Huxley AKA Mud Camp, a road not for the faint of heart into the heart of Roaring River country. Once a year is enough...
Still trying to get March 22nd free (Thursday). Looking like it may work.
