Yeah, I feel about like Zane looks in this first photo. Great shots Troy! The boys had a blast...had a hard time getting them ready for school this morning.
"Yeah, I'll clean this mess after I finish my cocoa"
The campy spot....
And what a grand spot it is!
Eli, just havin' fun...
The forest...
Zane's ready to hunt bear...

Great photos guys! Doesn't capture the frozen air tho. I look like a marshmallow.
That trail shows up here, going North tho. I'll betcha there's a trailhead down that spur road. I called the ranger district office for info, they're gonna call me back.

As always, you guys ROCK for camping. The pictures (All) are great and those boys are too cute. I really liked the pic of the growing log. And I see Hammie got the spot by the creek? Is that Barlow Creek? looks like a huge river to me. And the sound vid was nice to hear, I could see no faces on my end but that guitar and singing was very very good, who was it???
Thanks for sharring such a special group of IACers.

BTW the RD called me...that trail is supposedly still maintained. The ranger told me the trail skirts just north of the campground after the collapsed bridge. I'm dubious but he knew exactly what I was talkin about. Hood River RD actually maintains the trails in the area, which also receive horse use. So that's cool, but how the hell did we miss it? And of course 4 maps I have are all different. The Barlow Road predates most trails in the area so that's an important corridor.
Anyway just thot you'd like to know.

We walked up the trail about 1/4 mile. Seemed well maintained and quite nice.

Cripes, the weather is holding strong. Should be camping this weekend too...my boys are ready Nope, time to hunker down for the hollerdays. Gosh I love that area. Accessible, big trees, nice camp, historic creek...what more do ya need? Bob, Troy, Jasan, Stephan (with chain saw), Bookwus........beer. That'll work! Already got mini dutch ovens ordered for the kids Christmas...they'll wonder why they received a bag of coal ... Zane will likely figure it out.
