Anyone up for next weekend?
I'm considering taking the boys camping somewhere next weekend, Jan 16-18. Not sure where...prolly on the east side somewhere...maybe explore the Badger Creek area a bit to find a new spot for our annual April trip. Anyone up for it?

That is engine pull Saturday. Can't miss that. I'll be up to my ears in parts for a few.
Relax out there, Nehalem in a few weeks.

MAYBE, only a loon camps in the depths of winter. (yes I called ya a loon)
(I think I called myself one too)
Why not haul out here instead? We can drink beer in my garage, just as glorious as a mountain river. Yeah.

I'll bring a beer. Oh, and since you're comin in Friday, I hereby designate you as the oyster pickerupper. I recall that they said Friday was the day they receive them....so, get several dozen small to mediums...we'll maybe reimburse you on your arrival Or, I'll trade you out in beer.

Well, I've revised my plan a bit. The 50 degree sunny weather we were SUPPOSED to enjoy all week didn't happen. Colder than *(#$ in the morning. My boys were anxious to camp, so I offered them a "day" camp option...go explore, find a new good campspot, have a big fire and cook a big lunch and let them use their new dutch ovens...then head home at dark to sleep in their nice warm house. They thought that was a good plan. So, we're off to explore the Badger Creek area a bit and locate a good site for the 3rd annual April IAC shindig. I'll try to post some pics of the "new" site...hopefully.

Had a great "day camp" with the boys and a friend, Marty (Maupin goers last year...he was the sax player). Found a nice spot with TONS of firewood so I didn't have to burn what I'd brought. Nice campy spot in big trees, but next to some sorta gravel pit where we found evidence of target practice...so, I can see it now...we nestle into our quiet sanctuary then "BANG". And after an hour or two we go pick up 20 empty Hamms cans (sorry Spiffy ) Found another campable spot on the way out, but not in the big trees we all enjoy so much. I'll try to make another scouting trip up there to check out the other "likely" spots on my detailed map of the area. A lot of the coolest looking 'lil roads were blocked by rocks...harumph. Great day with the kids, colder than poo, and we would have been chilly chilly chilly to spend the night. So, we got the best of camping without actually "camping" Zane said..."we need to do this more often!" Those boys sure love being outside
