Well, I'm up on the mountain and I'm either really fucking cold, or too damn hot... Which makes my stomach swirl.

I'll prolly chill some more then head out for another round.

How was the meet?

Meet was huge. Found some stuff, and some of it's even VW stuff. I scored a pair of clean 1.7L heads (022-101-372) .. clean like from-the-machine-shop-just-rebuilt clean. No exhaust valves/springs, and no cracks .. $60. Not exactly sure what I'm gonna do with 'em but it was too good a deal to pass up, and someone always seems to need heads these days...

Also found a VW Bus Matchbox toy .. Baywindow, not Spl*tty!. A couple of gauges to replace the oh-so-spiffy indiglo-type ones I've got in the Bus (the backlights keep dying on those), and a traffic light viewer.

Ah, nice nice.

Did you see any Civic seats?

Probably, but not knowing exactly what Civic seats look like...

Just went and installed the traffic light viewer in the Bus, gonna head out for a test drive & food run. Also checked the heads I picked up; they haven't been flycut for 1.8/2.0L cylinders! w00t!

Hey, how was the PIR part? I was sorry to miss it. But, a steak burrito sure tasted good. I THINK the battery charger works, but the battery doesn't.

I installed that tachometer. Took it apart, flipped it upside down in the housing via 2 screws, soldered in a bus dash bulb (should be interesting to see how THAT works out...) Wiring looks pretty simple so I'll tackle that tomorrow. Where do you insert the wire into the cabin? Up front I'd imagine.

That bug in my garage has a seized engine...will be interesting to see how this turns out. LOTS of gas in the oil.

What I saw of PIR was pretty good, but we didn't come near seeing everything. We cut out around 3; Kirk's ankle was bothering him, my legs/hips were taking a beating hauling those heads around -- it's probably been 20 years since I've had anywhere near that much weight in my Kelty/on my back.

Run the wire up front, snake it up alongside the existing harness through the same hole. You'll have to pull the kickpanel to get at it from inside, but .. no big. Get about 25 feet of green 18ga stranded wire for the job, they've usually got rolls that long (or longer) at Knecht's in the Pico Wiring brand.

Took a few pikshurz too .. some of them just "to torture Xelmon for going skiing". Didn't take nearly enough pictures (only 4) but it's four more than I took last year .. or the year before ...
