L-Jet setup

Post by Sluggo » Wed Nov 29, 2006 8:14 pm

I still plan on doing the CIS thing in the future. But I figured that since I want to know as much about VWs and the different systems as I can, I should pick up an L-Jet and try that out first. When checking things out I noticed a few things.

This is the system I wanna purchase.

This is what my dealership manual from 1976 shows.

Is the first setup missing something? Or are these two different things?

That first system is no L-jet that I've ever seen from a bus. The plenum is wrong. Throttle body is in wrong position. Is that FI for a Bug?

What about this?

They both claim they are for a Type 4.

Or does anyone here have one for sale?

Nope, that's not a bus system either. Again wrong intake plenum, S boot, fuel rails, etc. Maybe they meant they are for a type 4 as in 411, 412? You want one that looks like the one in the manual with the oblong shaped plenum.

I have just been informed by European Motorworks that my "C" grind cam is not compatible with F.I.

Dammit!!!

Bottomend said this is not an issue with CIS. I'll be doing some more research.

Sorry to hear that. Is that something I need to worry about with my run of the mill AVP engine? :pale:

Ask AVP. But I doubt it if you got a stock build. I got a performance Cam with good midrange torque. He said he has had customers say that they made it work with F.I. BUt he does not recommend it because in his experience it will not idle right.

I was just informed by Piledriver that it's not really an issue with CIS-E because it's adjustable. So now I'm back on that.

looks like maybe 912E setup as its a 914 2.0L plenum with Ljet FI. No AFM is shown in either pics. Its not a Djet setup.

"edit" its definately a 912E fi setup so it would fit on your bus fine as its ljet.

concur.

that is excellent stuff for a performance bus application because the intake runners are much larger than bus ones.
