Improved Jets on Dual Solexs on 1.8L

Post by dhoch14 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 10:32 am

Dear Masters of Carbs ([ishould this really be plural?[/i]),

As many of us have gone through a 1.7L rebuild and moved to a 1.8L (::nod to Oregon72!!!::), is there a better or target main jet we should be using?

My stock Dual 32/34 Solexs currently have 127.5s in them. I believe I overheard a little birdie say that increasing this to a 130, 132.5, or 135 would be better.

Please confirm, reject, or dispute my claim. :)

For reference, here is Gene Berg's list of main jets:

(also the automatics call for 50 cut-off jets to help warm idle issues, most replacement jets are 55 and I am not sure that you would notice the difference- edit)
BobD - 78 Bus . . . 112,730 miles
Chloe - 70 bus . . . 217,593 miles
Naranja - 77 Westy . . . 142,970 miles
Pluck - 1973 Squareback . . . . . . 55,600 miles
Alexus - 91 Lexus LS400 . . . 96,675 miles

132.5s got it.

Will I need to tweak anything once this is completed? Like the mixture - ratios.
