34 pict 3 accelerator pump passages?

Post by vdubyah73 » Wed Apr 08, 2009 9:06 am

Should fuel flow freely from the bowl through the passage at the bottom of the pump cavity. It appears to me that it is supposed to flow through a brass insert directly behind the accelerator pump in the bowl. Cleaner doesn't flow very easily through the passage from the pump to the jet either. Old carb, been sitting for years maybe decades in the loft at Wally's shop. Still very tight at throttle shaft, meaning turns freely with no wiggle. Has the part # tag still attached to the top with this # on it, 113 129 033c.

Hiya Bill,

Glad to hear that the problem was solved. What was the answer?

By the way, a bit of semi-meaningless trivia.......your carb is from a federal manual transmission equipped car produced in 1974. Should have a flange number of 427-1. Off an AH series engine.

Main Jet: 127.5
Idle Jet: 55
Air Correc. Jet: 70
Acc Dump Jet: 42.5

It does not have me.

Answering Bookwus, there is a check ball to prevent the accelerator pump from just squirting gas back into the float bowl. This can make it difficult to check for clear passage if you are spraying carb cleaner through the little jet deal. I shake the carb to listen for the rattle of the check ball.
