Mine needs replacement, but the early bays have a threaded fitting at the fuel pump. Can't seem to find a replacement online, does anyone make this part any more? What are you guys doing?
I'll try the local VW FLAPS.
edit: crap crap Halsey says they're not made any more. Find a used part.

Re: Early Bay Fuel Line
You need the metal line? You can get tubing and flare the end with your old fitting. Lawdy knows who has a flaring tool for fuel line sized ends.hambone wrote:Mine needs replacement, but the early bays have a threaded fitting at the fuel pump. Looks very much like a threaded brake line fitting but a bit bigger.
I could always cut off the line near the fitting and use rubber fuel line in place but that wouldn't be right. Wonder why the bus only has the threaded fuel line? Beetle of that era was slip on.
Edit: I can't find it available anywhere, except for Samba NOS for like $50. I can't BELIEVE that no one makes that stuff any more....
What about a small section of rubber hose between the old threaded fitting and a new long piece of metal fuel line thru the front breastplate? There would only be 1 point of failure vs the entire hose (if it was rubber thru it's entire length).

After further investigation, two vendors carry the threaded fitted line:
Wolfsburg West
Aircooled.net
$15, not cheap but at least someone carries it. I'm going that route instead of splicing my old line. Cheap insurance, maintenance free.
