Consider the intermittant nature of your symptoms. If the symptoms clear up all together for however short a period of time, or come in quick acute phases, you cannot blame the formulation of the gasoline, because gasoline is a long term event with consistent symptoms. Water in the gas can cause short term erratic problems. So can crap in the float bowls or idle/emulsion jets, my favorite guess for the symptoms you are describing.
