Itinerant Air-Cooled

In the interest of not assuming: is it true that the Solex PICT elements should keep the choke open for a while after the engine is shut off?
I have seen carbs that hold it open due to engine heat, but this current one is closing the choke after the engine is shut off. Modern world crap? Worn out part?

? When a hot engine, which of course has the choke wide open, is shut off, the throttle adj. screw comes to rest on the fast idle cam and
will hold the choke open indefinitely, until the throttle is again moved. Then, the spring tension of the choke element, which has presumably
cooled off a great deal, will pull the choke plate closed in accordance with its initial setting. There would be something wrong with a choke
that closed immediately on engine shutoff. I've never timed it, but I would suppose it would normally take many minutes of cooling off for
the choke to even begin to close. There's a great deal of heat stored in the carb and other parts of a hot engine, and it could take hours for the choke
to return to its dead cold position.

Thanks that is what I figgured. This carb likes to eat elements. 3 so far in 14 years. Replacements have been used though.

Is it closing immediately upon shut-off?

I find that if I make a gas stop in the first 10-15 minutes of driving, the restart will be running on the fast idle cam again. If I stop for food after an hour drive, the fast idle screw will still be on the "fully warm" setting. Often, the fast-idle cam will reengage sooner in cold weather than in summer.

It needed an adjustment. Yes that is all. Runs so much better....
