new AFM I am running very rich.
old AFM readings keep increasing every time I check.
At first they were 500ohms, then 1500 ohms, 5000 ohms and now as high as 30 000 ohms.
Let me know your fuel pressure readings.
Lean out the new AFM with a nice big adjustment at the mixture screw.
First, COUNT how many turns to bottom the mixture screw.
THEN add one full turn counter-clockwise to your initial reading. Test drive.
Add one turn counterclockwise between each test drive and let me know if you experience improvement.

Just to clarify, the "new AFM" is not new but rather a spare I picked up in Costa Rica.

I will adjust the screw as per your recommendation.
Hoping to get the fuel pressure readings this weekend at a shop in Cali, Colombia.

The problems seems to be solved. I added 1 turn ccw bringing the total number of turns to 5 1/4 ccw from closed. After this the hesitation/loss of power in first gear under load went away.
When I found a competent mechanic in Cali I also had the injectors removed and cleaned. Seems to be running even better.

In Cali I was also able to have the AFM repaired. I visited a Bosch service center and they cleaned some contacts. There was oxidation that was increasing the higher resistance. They got the contacts to read within Bentley spec. They did not do any calibration apart from that so I do not know how it will run. Is getting the resistances within Bentley specs sufficient if they didn't adjust anything with the large outside gear and they placed the wiper back on the original tracks? They did remove the middle screw and wiper to clean the contacts.

I am not sure if I am still running rich. After doing some big highway driving I will check the plugs and calculate the mileage.

Thank you for your help.

I am now having some issues at elevation but I will start a separate thread for that.
