Generator Light Blip

Post by sped372 » Thu Jul 02, 2009 2:08 pm

Ok, so twice today (once on the way to work and once on the way back) the generator light blipped on and then back off again within less than a second. Good for a shot of adrenaline. Anyway, I'm trying to think of culprits...

Brushes?

Voltage Regulator (was replaced a few years back with a Bosch one)?

Belt slippage is pretty much out of the question since my belt is tight and I can't imagine it slipping and "recatching" at 3000+ rpms to blip the gen light anyway.

I know my battery is getting old (I mean old!) - might that contribute?

Neither belt nor battery, but rather a loose connection or a frayed wire insulation . . . somewhere.
