Clicking Voltage Regulator '68 Beetle

Post by hambone » Mon Jan 14, 2008 12:47 pm

Upon startup, and sometimes randomly, I hear it clicking back there with about a 2 second delay between clicks. Usually occurs when the engine is revving. Battery/generator seem to be functioning normally. Should I be concerned?
At first I thought it was a rock stuck in the treads! :alien:

Sounds like your just hearing it working. If it stops making those clicks be concerned.
Take care,
Rick

My Squareback does it too. There is a load diode or sumpin that is supposed to prevent the regulator from hunting near full charge. Try turning on the headlamps the next time your hear the clicking. If it goes away, we share the same symptom. I'll let you know if I fix it.
