Gauge Wiring Size?

Post by chitwnvw » Fri May 18, 2007 7:44 pm

What thickness of wires should I run from the engine to the cockpit for gauges? It seems the stuff I've seen has been 16 or 18 awg, or does it really make a difference since they carry so little current?

Randy in Maine told me 14 gauge. Get 50 feet from The Home Depot! (Enough to run three positive wires.) Oil pressure, oil temp and tach if you want it. I ran a separate line for my CHT... or will anyway when I get a spare few moments.
The best navigators aren't sure where they're going until they get there. And then they're still not sure.
