Well, my lens was cracked in half. Still useful, but ugly. I've been looking for a replacement for many moonies, but all of 'em have been cracked.
I finally found a used one in one piece. MAN is that some brittle stuff, almost like bakelite. No wonder they're all cracked.
Ok I swapped the switches, then spent an hour trying to get the 2 screws lined up with the threaded holes, almost lost my mind. Finally got it lined up by sheer luck, but somehow managed to crack the new lens a little bit by the switches. What a ridiculous design! If they had made those screws 1/2" longer then it would be easier to find the holes...
No wonder they're all cracked. I don't believe an aftermarket replacement is available, and all the NOS type parts will be brittle as hell. Anyone else have a similar experience? The new lens looks nice but wasn't worth the hassle.

When dealing with brittle plastic that you really want to survive, try soaking it in hot water before installation. When installing oem turn indicator lenses, also, do not let the screw do the work of drawing it in, press the the lens against the gasket with your hand and let the screw just hold where you have pressed it.

I was just generalizing to all plastic lenses inside and outside. Even the clip-in interior lights can surprise you by cracking in half as you try to reinstall them after the headliner has been disturbed in the opening.
