I touched up the high spots with a buffing wheel on the dremel... nice and easy, slow and steady. New bearings showed up last night. This project has dragged on longer than I had hoped, and it'll go even longer with the weather as it is right now (110* heat index). Enough rambling.

There's no comparison when feeling the old vs. new bearings. New one is smooth as glass and the old one is definitely gritty. I'm feeling more confident about buttoning things back up and having fixed the issue. Since the CV seemed fine on this side, and had plenty of nice-looking grease in there, I'll skip taking the other side apart. That should help things go quicker and now I know what I'm looking at.
