As it develops, we will break it up into logical units.

Your engine is an energy conversion pump that uses air (lots) fuel and many well-timed sparks to rotate a shaft (the input shaft into the transmission). That's it.

Screw up any one of those essential elements and the shaft doesn't get turned. We will help you figure out which of the four essential elements may be the cause of your current problem. Four? There's only three listed up there. . .?

The fourth essential element is the pump itself. The pump (long block)comprises a crankshaft connected to four pistons in four cylinders with little valves run by a carefully timed camshaft to let in the fuel/air and get rid of the exhaust. This sucker is a precision system that demands allegiance to cleanliness and proper adjustment. We shall explore the myriad of ways your engine can fall ill, and we will help you zero in on the simple methods for determining what is wrong.
