I’ve used https://www.vwheritage.com. Not he cheapest, but you can see if they are genuine parts and the shipping is quicker than buying from a lot of domestic vendors.

Looks like they only have "booster" springs... :pale:

Thanks Tom!

Detailed Description
When this spring weakens it can cause slightly low oil pressure. If replacing it does not solve the problem, try removing it, stretching it just slightly, and reinstalling it.
Cheers,
Tim

This is the bullshit right here. It is bullshit. Pure unadulterated bullshit. The Type engine has a plunger piston with a groove in it (read: A BIG LEAK) that flows approximately 20% of all the pump output through the cooler galleries right back into the sump/oil pump inlet! This allows the cooler to cool *more oil than the engine heats up*. That is a bigger leak than any plunger piston could possibly cause because it is not "seated" by the spring. Like I said, a spring that seats the piston is no different than a SPRING that seats the piston. It is irrelevant! It is irrelevant!
You know what is relevant? A Bigger spring pisses off the cooler when the oil is cold. That is when the piston has to push down against the spring to relieve the cooler from too much pressure!
Oy friggen vey.
