Oil drain plug length

Post by THall » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:18 pm

The previous owner tapped my oil drain plug to an M16 size. Well, the current bolt is pretty shot and I want to replace it. The only replacement I can find is about 1/2inch longer. Is there any issues with using the longer bolt?

Thanks!

Saw it down short, bevel the edge nicely. I am going to guess that the factory and all others make these bolts short to cut down on turbulence in the sump as the engine pumps the entire oil supply every 15 seconds or so.
