KYB size question

Post by upnorthman » Wed Jun 09, 2010 6:57 pm

I have a set of Gas a-just for the rear and a set of GR2s for the front. Why do the Gas a-just shocks look so much smaller than the ol blue ones that I pulled off the rear? My first question was 'will they be able to do the job?'. I know this is true from what I have read. But does size matter? (I just had to ask that question....)

Got a picture? We just put some gas-a-justs on Hippie's bus, and I don't remember them being too diminutive...

Need some scale. That might just be travel. Are the blue ones fully extended and the gas adjusts compressed?

Bus depot lists KG5530 as the one for the rears. I know nothing about them getting ripped apart.

The Gas-Adjusts we just installed on Hippie's bus were well-extendable past the lower suspension stops. It was a nice deltoid/bicep workout to compress the lower shock and insert the bolt into the lower mount.

The whites I got for the rear are KG4521 and the first thought I had about putting these on were that it could be ripped apart. But wow those whites are stiff compared to the GR-2s.

Anyone want buy a set of white ones for the front? Good price......

I could not find KYBs at the Depot. But Cp1 lists PN KYB-344045 (silver) or KYB-KG5530 (white). White is better eh? More travel avail...

Thanks Chi, that is a much better price. Don't know why I could not find it..... Thanks Air-Cooled!

I thought I saw several people vote on another thread that the fronts should be the GR-2 and the rears should be the Gas-A-Just. Softer on the front and stiffer on the back.

Sylvester,
I do believe the ones you reference were listed for the rear.
The 343144 or the KG4521 are ones listed for the front. One is more stiff (white Gas A just) and one is more soft (silver GR-2). I think Randy said on another thread that the white ones made the cd player skip a lot.

I ordered a new pair of the white (5530) for the rear from the Depot and they are on back order...... Now I have to fix that rear top nut thingy....
