Been trying to track down a cheaper but safe alternative to the Hankooks. Found these.

Here's the link.

185/R14C, 185/R14D & 195/75 R14D. Colin was running 195s when he was here.

I called and the max pressure is 50PSI. Load Index is 1600lbs. 6 Ply on the C and 8 Ply on the D.

I can probably get these for much less than list price. That's why I need some opinions on them.

The yokohama 356 I had were good tires except in offroad, mud situations. Tended to spin and slide. On the highway, they were fine.

It says "Not For Snow". I'd assume that would translate into mud. Also says they're good in wet or dry situations and that's what I need. I don't really take my Bus off road.

Just read the reviews. Most were from Vanagon & Westy owners. Most reviews were good except for traction in the snow & mud (and wet grass according to one guy).

Ended up getting Continental Vanco 2 tires. 185 R14 with a "D" sidewall. $68 each including tax. No shipping! It pays to have parents that work at a Porsche/Audi dealership!

These are labeled as having OWL - white outlined letters - is that true, or is that mislabeled?

Ive seen pics of peoples vans with them mounted, but I don't think ive seen a pic so far with the white outlined letters facing outward, if they actually have that.

it's the dumbest reason to pick a tire, but I like outlined white letters on some tires, especially on busses. getting that on one of the more well received tires in the bus community would be a plus.

It appears that is mislabeled. I just went out and looked at the RA-08's on my wife's bus and both sides have outlined black letters. According to Hankook's website, the sidewall is listed as 'SBL' I assume the 'S' is for solid, but they looked outlined to me. In any case, no white.

Jasan does not like his Hankooks off highway. Something to consider if you plan on camping. Says they are slippy.

With my teeny tires I have noticed noting out of the ordinary for handling. When I switch to big boy tires, I wonder if I will really notice?

It came to my attention that BFG has their AT tires now in a 195/75/r14:
BFG"s!

should be much better in mud/dirt, but for snow your still best off with a skinnier tire. that, and those BFG's are kinda spendy.

I wasn't that impressed with the Hankooks in the snow. The Wild Countrys I replaced with the Hankooks did better. But the sidewall burst on them sitting in the drive. Now I've had a Hankook fail. Grrrr.
