Hey Colin give me just a bit before you pull the trigger on a booster. If your interested we can work out a deal. I paid $269. I'll let it go your way for less and throw in the shipping if you're interested.

Just tried fitting my new one and it's a no go on the 1972. The booster housing is larger diameter and it hits the bus frame on the drivers side (outer most). There's a nub of sort that sticks out and will not allow the booster to lay flat on the mounting flange.

I'm going to send out the old one for rebuild since I know it fits like a glove.

It's the nub (bolt well) sticking out just to the left of the old booster in the following shot. Not interested in grinding anything down for fit.

It took me all of 3 minutes to hand file that boss down so my beautiful new ATE booster would fit nicely in my '71 bus.
IMO, well worth the trouble since I expect the ATE unit will give another 47 years of reliable service, which can hardly
be said of the cheap Chinese jobs or a rebuilt.

Took a close look at when installed. I'd have to file roughly 3/4 inch of it down. to get it to lay flat.

Going to send my booster to Prior for a rebuild (via Rock Auto) for $103

Ok...after a ~1 month wait brake booster (rebuilt), master cylinder (New ATE), new reservoir bottle, new brake switches are all installed. Bled system down and it working great. The booster was quite literally the last item on the bus that has not been rebuilt until now.

Excellent. When these cars have proper brakes (especially the '73>s), they are very good brakes.

Last Step:
Emergency Braking Test
That is how we discovered that wcfvw69 had put two trailing brake shoes on one side, and the two leading shoes on the other.
Totally rebuilt perfect system that failed our emergency braking test with quite a slew to the side.

I recently replaced both rear wheel cylinders and gave all the rear components a good one over. Removed the adjusters clean/lubed them well. Brake test passed flying colors

Happy holidays Colin.

Oh heck yeah, we're going to make it a whole Happy 2019.
. . . after I battle these raging snow flurries and scamper back to Pensacola.
