OK, i have a good batt 12.62. Volt drop during starting is 1 volt
I have spark at the plugs
I have fuel pressure per spec
i have correct pulsing at injector plugs..test light flickering as it supposed to.
I have cold start valve that clicks when 12 v applied. I have 11.5 v at CSV plug during cranlking
cold timing :Rotor points to notch, #1 wire at T=0
But as yet no sign of combustion or even a cough or splutter

Does it run on starting fluid?

Clean your plugs, file the electrodes, gap them, then try a start with fresh battery and gas.

i put up a cupful of gas in the plenum and instantly got some puffs of exhaust out the tailpipe.

So i re-routed the fuel pump intake to a 5 gall can of fresh gas..and i get a consistant gentle puffing out the exhaust but no idle. tried fresh set of plugs and swinging the dizz around a bit. tried `180 with the plug wires , rechecked valves etc but still short of idle.

Pressure guage shows spec readings

Drained tank and saw no funky stuff. Fresh gas in, but still nothing more than an aggressive series of puffs out the xhaust. I did find a cool method of finding TDC with a vacuum/pressure guage, and did this to verify that it is where its supposed to be.
In desperation, hooked up vac guage to manifold to read cranking vacuum which is supposed to be a steady 5 ish. Mine is more of a flopping between 0 and 5..not steady at all...not sure if this means anything...?

Do a static timing. Put pulley notch at 8* BTDC for #1, loosen distributor, turn on ignition, apply test lamp to coil (-), rotate clockwise if needed to shut lamp off, rotate counterclockwise until lamp just lights, yer good to keep trying to start.

OK cold static timing to 8btdc done. Now i dont even get puffs of smoke..just dry cranking. Batt good at 12,6 fuel press normal....activated CS injector manually but still nada. Checked spark yet again..this time its a deep orange color

the only difference from yesterday was that i poured the fresh gas in the tank overnite and rerouted back to tank gas

Tried an old mangled black coil instead of the shiny new blue one, and got instant combustion...still short of an idle when the skies unleashed cold rain. Perhaps it was both coil and fuel....

Does it run? At 8* btdc? OK, it doesn't idle, but does it run? I cannot grok your post.

No it does NOT run, nor does it idle...it just puffs of smoke and burps of combustion. That is ALL i get at 8btdc
the engine does NOT start. It does NOT catch....i just get puffs of smoke out the exhaust

You need a fricken visit. A moneyback guarantee visit. No Volkswagen has beaten me yet. Want to be the first?

It would be too easy for ya.....i just checked compression and its 125 125 125 125.....so i msut be missing something simple....the plugs were all sooty black.

A better test for you would be a reality show type deal, where we drag something out of the weeds, then give you 3 hours to get it running using only a can of carb cleaner, a flathead screwdriver , a pack of cxigarettes and a diet coke.
