The last three "crowd-sourced" VW adventures on TheSamba ended with locks and maybe a few bans… Be careful using that system on TheSamba. Patreon is a MUCH more viable alternative, as folks are paying for regular goods or services, instead of financing an idea. Patreon would also require relatively regular content to be created, though.

I can attest that the social media 'game' is not a lackadaisical afterthought; it requires near full-time ministering if one is to gain anything financial. I'm neck-deep in the trenches right now.

Annual IAC subscription PayPal sent. :)

Aw, thanks . . .

I am so not yet geared-up for social media. My resistance to Facebook looks well-founded.
OK, pink and beige high heels are one thing . . . wanting to punch out Mark Zuckerburg is another. That guy gives me the creeps and has damaged my faith in the generation that came up after me.
Go Millennials!

Would Itinerary stories and pictures qualify as regular?

(yes, I paid the hosting fee yesterday and any assistance to the $115.00 would be appreciated)
I just sent you $25.00 via PayPal. I would have sent more, but:

1. Just finished paying for two root canals that were not entirely covered by insurance, and

2. I wanted to give all the other IAC buddies a chance to chip in. So chip in, already.

Thank-you for your contribution. See my new marketing outreach? Yeah, I'll have you all barfing soon enough.
Hurry! Order yours . . . . TODAY:

I think so. You set the schedule. And Patreon lets you set different levels of contribution, and different schedules, I believe. So you could set one donation level for "Itinerary Thread" style posts, and another (same or different cost) level for technical articles. Then there could be a combination (discount?) donation level that includes both.

The Millennial Marketing Manager in me encourages this, because it is passive income. (Assuming you're still writing tech articles these days… Would love a 'Chloe drum brakes front wheel bearing repack' addendum to the Road Warrior disc brake article…) Then again, would the paywall eliminate the free readership right now because most folks don't pay for most media these days?

I love the sticker on BobD. I'm sure that will keep him from any more fuel pump antics……

I'm sure I could find out if I took 5 minutes to research.. but who owns the rights to Patreon content once someone has paid to view it?

A big thank you! to all of the people who contributed to the hosting fees. If you'd like your name published, let me know! At itinerant Air-Cooled, it is *your* contributions that help us serve you the daily/weekly/monthly/yearly programming that you have come to rely on for remaining informed and amused.

Well, for me, that ship has sailed. But if my comment encouraged a few anonymous donors to cough up a buck or two, so much the better.

Gave Sluggo $10 cash towards the hosting issue a couple of weeks ago. Would have done more but that was all I had on me that day...

You are welcome! Bus is currently sitting in my shop suffering from my neglect! I procrastinated all winter on taking care of some things, and now that has caught up to me. I've got all new fuel lines and clamps to put on, but have failed to do it as of yet. Maybe I can find some time this week to get this started!

Safe travels this lap!
