This Westside Volkswagen frame came off of my dad's 1980 diesel Rabbit C (long since gone, cracked block). He bought the car new off of the lot and ordered a 50 MPG vanity license plate which is why the dealer frame has survived the car. Our Twin Cities Bug-In is held at Westside VW, so this frame has made a homecoming of sorts.

All I know is that my 79 was bought in San Francisco - I did have some communication with the original owner (he had it for 20 years or so before donating it to the Salvation Army in 2000 or 2001), but he never replied about exactly which dealer he bought it from, alas. The possibilities, as far as I can tell are:
Stan Carlsen, Inc (1900 19th Ave)
Saltnes Volkswagen (1600 Van Ness Ave for sales, 1604 Jackson St for service)
Ron Price Volkswagen (393 El Camino Real, South San Francisco)
It did used to get taken to Gandalf's in South San Francisco for service etc, so I'm thinking he possibly lived around that area at the time, so maybe bought at Ron Price...

They would be accurate for Bertha, too. My sister bought Bertha from a Riviera salesman (your Dad?) who purchased a trade-in to sell himself. Pretty sure Bertha came from Riviera new.

Dad was Rivera Motors electrician for the most part from when they opened in the early to mid 60's until they closed in the late 80's.

Ours wears the original "Bill Johnson Corvallis" frames. The Corvallis franchise seems it has changed a handful of times.

I am looking for "Woodland Volkswagen" or "Woodland Hills Volkswagen" from Woodland Hills, CA for my 74 Super. I believe they changed the name right around this time. Please let me know if you have one for sale.
Thanks, in advance.
