I have been working on this camper since 2004. A couple Colin visits and mucho thread reading have finally got me to a better camper...and a little knowledge on these machines.
Anyway the camper was finally ready for some serious camping this spring. However, a very good friend was diagnosed with stage four cancer and her friends were having a fundraiser which consisted of a car show. Never intended to do shows but figured why not. Spent the Spring getting the Tikibus ready. There was only one other AC VW there. The camper was a hit. Everyone was invited inside to look around. KIds thought was a cool fort and the adults all had stories about a VW in their past. There were a lot of awards and a lot of different cars. I think all show visitors were given voting ballots. About 1/3 of the cars there came away with trophies.....and The Tikibus was one of them! It was a fun, although long, day. However, I think free weekends are better spent in the woods or beach than a parking lot. Here are a few pics.

"Factory fresh" doesn't do it justice. Beautiful bus, and you showed it off for a great cause! :D

The undercarriage is slowly but surely getting cleaned and painted and rust proofed. Little progress this spring due to the lingering winter which makes for a cold garage floor.

I went to Key West when I got back from the Middle East last week. That Bus would have been the thing to have on the island for sure. I did see a Bay window double cab there. However, it was not as nice as your Bus, that looks great!
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
