Last time I had a tow, I gave a big tip. The tow was courtesy of AAA. But the driver really gave us red carpet service. He didn't have to. He chose to. I wanted to let him know I appreciated it.

second, by immitation, which is easiest;

Perfect. Isn't that what tipping is all about?

When I do AAA gigs, yeah, I tip a bit. The truck guys are making no money on a AAA call.

When dad had to pay to tow the Chevy? Not a cent, it cost some $700 to get it out of the hole.

I tip them very well up front and thank them personally for delivering my bus safely to where I want it to be.

I certainly tip if they are cool and know what they are doing. I drove tow trucks years ago and know that tow drivers aren't paid nearly enough for what they do. It is not an easy job. If the driver is an idiot or a dickhead, then forget the tip.
